So, I get this email from the Democratic Party. Since I’ve been chronicling every last nasty thing Musk and Trump have been doing since they took over, I was pretty fired up to open it and finally get a look at how they plan to fight back.
But no. They want money for things. What things? We don’t get to know. What exactly is the strategy over a hundred days? Unknown.
By the way, today’s email isn’t much different from the one I received on February 5.
No plan then, either, and by then they had a pretty good idea what they were up against. The lights have been flashing red for well over a month.
It’s one thing for me to be bothered, as a political observer, but it’s been quite something to read what voters have to say on social media. I wrote about what I think the strategy should be here:
Opinion: The Way Out of DOGE for Democrats | Blog#42
It’s been a month filled with daily outright lies, the usurpation of power by an unelected oligarch of dubious nationality and character with his band of teen hackers (one of whom is the grandson of a Soviet spy), Friday night massacres, blunders, curious rapprochement with Putin, and the flagrant and unabashed blackmail of allies - even ones who have been vulnerable and downtrodden. All this, done in the open, for all to see. I should know.
I see nothing anywhere close to what I identified as real problems for Democrats being addressed in any kind of organized way, at least not at this juncture.
Prominent Democrats appear on TV to keep their name recognition up. I don’t see elected party representatives making those appearances as part of a workgroup, with congresscritters and senators assigned to push Republicans on one topic they were tasked with, when they should be outside of Congress several times a day to give updates and take questions, inform the public through targeted emails intended to inform and not just vacuum up cash.
But no. Fundraising emails are what we are still getting.
I guess I should count my blessings… I’ve not gotten another one of these:
Weird Fundraising Emails | Jayapal Edition | #Dems on Blog#42
The nature and character of fundraising emails has taken a weird turn since the 2016 election, with messaging becoming far more strident, insistent, accusatory at times (are you voting for Trump?), and now, a weird melange of cutesy, TMI (the picture),
